Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss restoration. When the believer meets God’s conditions, as David did when he repented of his sin, the Holy Spirit then goes to work on our behalf. Joy is lost when there is unconfessed sin in our lives. But in God’s mercy and love for all, He will restore us and raise us up clean and forgiven of sin when we repent; this is when our joy is restored. Once David repented, he was ready to be used of God, through teaching and preaching. He sang allowed of God’s righteousness because he was now a consciously pardoned sinner. No penance, sacraments, or costly church gifts, are desired, or accepted by God; the Lord can accept only faith and trust in Christ and what He has done for us at the Cross. Unfortunately, the world tries to create a new God, while the church tries to create another sacrifice. There is only one sacrifice for sin.
