Before salvation, we are slaves to sin. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 6:20 discussing a righteous lifestyle in a believer. At salvation, righteousness is ours as we take on the righteousness of Christ because of His work on Calvary’s Cross. It is imputed to us because we believe on Him; we are sanctified and justified. We are a new creation in Christ Jesus. When we realize what was afforded us at salvation, we will also live a victorious Christian life because not only was the penalty for sin paid, but the power of sin was broken as well. It is here that we are free from sin; thus, keeping our faith in Christ’s finished work will allow the Holy Spirit to work on our behalf to transform us into the image of Christ.
