Sinless perfection does not exist in the life of a believer this side of heaven. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss sanctification. At salvation our sins past, present, and future were paid for in full by the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross. After salvation, the sin nature remains in a life, but is dormant when faith is anchored in the finished work of Christ alone. If we misdirect our faith away from Christ, then the sin nature can rise up and trouble us again. Reading 1st Corinthians 6:11, scripture is clear, we are sanctified, and justified all at salvation; then, the Holy Spirit will go to work in our lives to change us into the image of Jesus Christ. It’s a work that only He can do.
