How do we live by faith? The answer is, putting our faith in Christ and Him crucified and that alone. There is no law or self effort or sacraments, or rituals of the church can bring about a victorious Christian life. The purpose of the law of Old was to expose sin. Today under the New Covenant, Jesus Christ fulfilled the law; when we believe on Him at salvation, we are justified and sanctified. The battle of man over sin and self is won in Christ Jesus and Him alone.
