Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the philosophies and traditions of men that will lead to vain deceit. The only way to live, in the way God has intended, is by keeping our faith anchored in the finished work of Christ. This is the only way the Holy Spirit will work in the life of a believer to transform us into the image of Christ. The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a second subsequent work that results with the evidence of speaking in other tongues; it is a wonderful power of God exposed in our lives, but it must not be the object of our faith. All too often, the believer is deceived by ways of men and self-efforts that wrongly teach we have something to do with ridding the sin in our lives. At salvation, with the repentance of sin, and faith in the blood of Jesus for our lives, the believer is washed, sanctified, and justified. When Jesus Christ died on Calvary’s Cross, He said it is finished. The Cross of Christ must be the object of our faith.
