If you live after the flesh, you will die. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 8:13 discussing how man can spiritually die when his or her faith is misplaced. Paul said, when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. We must accept Christ and Him crucified we are saved, anchoring our faith in His finished work, and that alone is the only way for the Holy Spirit to work in our lives and change us into the image of Christ. Faith in the flesh, holding to self-efforts and disciplines, and even religious practices can detour our faith and hinder what God can do in our lives. We must not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ has died in vain. We must mortify the deeds of the body so that we may live.
