The Spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 6:19-20, discussing the infirmities of the flesh, which is, by simplest definitions, relying on self. The heart of humanity thinks it can do what only God can do. The flesh cannot produce righteousness or maintain it. God has to recreate us, and He doesn’t need our help to do it. The only thing we bring to the table is faith, then the Holy Spirit works on our behalf to change us into the image of Christ. The flesh cannot attain righteousness; righteousness is imputed to us, by faith in the finished work of Christ on Calvary’s Cross.
