Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 8:5; and as I was considering, behold an he goat came from the west on the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground, and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes. The notable horn was Alexander the Great. This touch not the ground refers to the speed in which Alexander conquered the known world of that day. In Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, the Grecian Empire is represented by the belly and thighs of brass. In Daniel’s first vision in chapter seven, a leopard with four wings and also four heads symbolized this Empire. The four heads have to do with the four generals that took over his kingdom when he died. These things that we see, this great strength and speed, this was not just natural ability or human acumen. This was the aid and strengthening of demonic powers, setting up one government and tearing down another. God was over all of this, no matter what’s going on in His world, He’s still over it. This is an example of how God will let prideful man have his own way when we ignore the things of God.
