Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 8:14, and he said unto me unto two thousand and three hundred days, then shall the sanctuary be cleansed. This verse makes reference to 2,300 evenings and mornings as there are two sacrifices a day. In Daniel’s day, the years were counted 360 days long, instead of our present method of using 365 days; hence the three years, two months, and ten days of the whole and actual length of doing away with the daily sacrifices in the Temple. The 360 has to do with the solar calendar. The Jews were an agricultural country, and they used the lunar calendar system, but in the third century they corrected their calendar when they found they were missing some days. The panel reads on to discuss the mighty angel Gabriel who enters the scene to guide Daniel in the understanding of his vision. Brother Swaggart says to remember this has been Daniel’s life; his entire concentration has been to gain information about Israel.
