Today on A Study in The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and the panel read Romans 1:9, discussing the prayer life of Paul and his teachings for several years in Rome, even while in prison. At that time, there were many home churches; Christians had more liberty when Paul was first imprisoned in Rome, but some four years later when Paul was arrested a second time, Nero’s authority against Christians had changed, leading to Paul’s martyrdom. At that time, it was lethal to be connected to Paul. Paul’s missionary journeys were to bring the understanding of the New Covenant to the Jew and the Gentile. The Cross bridged the gap between all, and Paul determined through the Holy Spirit to make that known and obeyed God’s call.
