Through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, we can live free from the dominion of the sin nature. Today on A Study In the Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 6:16, discussing how the believer is free from a life of rules and works. At salvation, we are washed and regenerated; here the inward man is renewed. When our faith is in Christ and Him crucified alone, we will see this result in the conforming of our lives. We can put off the lifestyle of the old man, and the working of the Holy Spirit will transform our inward person into the image of Christ. Under the spiritual law of the New Covenant, this is done by faith and grace alone, and not by the working of any law, that we could boast. This is where God shows us we can believe and trust in the Holy Spirit to do the work that needs to be done in our lives.
