Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss how the power of the sin nature is broken when we are united with Christ. At salvation, we are baptized into Christ; this is when the sin nature is rendered idle, inoperative, and useless. But at the same point in time, without it being eliminated, whenever the believer begins to try and live for Christ, outside of the provision made by Christ, the sin nature can be reactivated. This is called spiritual adultery. To walk in victory over sin, the believer must know what it means to anchor their faith in the Cross of Christ. This is the only way the Holy Spirit can go to work on our behalf and keep the sin nature dormant. Brother Swaggart says church leaders must teach their followers how to maintain this proper relationship with the Lord, through faith in His Son, and what His Son has done alone, and dependence on that every day. This will result in a victorious Christian life.
