Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the false teaching of predestination under the Reformed and Calvinist beliefs. The Calvinist would say that you are going to come to faith whether you repent or not, that is if you were predestined for heaven. Calvinist preachers during the Great Awakening were bringing people to an “ wakening" of the fact that they were in the elect of God already, and that they needed to just accept that and accept Christ, knowing that they have already been pre-destined for heaven, instead of being pre-destined for hell. If you were in the reprobate, you had a problem. This false teaching makes God out to be cruel. The panel offers the correct biblical teaching of how one receives eternity spent in heaven; it falls under, whosoever will? It’s the Lord’s will that none should be lost, but that all men should come to repentance. Jesus Christ is the Savior of all who will repent and believe.
