Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 8:23 discussing the power of sin. There is only one solution for sin, and that is believing in what Jesus did on Calvary’s Cross. If we try to overcome sin, in any other way, we are going to fail. Brother Swaggart says many in the church do not take seriously the horror of sin, and do not know that the active sin nature can only be stopped by what Christ did on the Cross two thousand years ago. We cannot produce righteousness or overcome it by good works; we cannot overcome it by philosophy. The Holy Spirit is living within us, but this is a testing time for the saints of God, and this is what we are fighting, a fight of faith, believing that Christ has obtained these things for us, and as we rely upon Him, the Holy Spirit works on our behalf to change us into the image of Christ.
