During the time of Daniel, Israel lost her way and began worshiping idols as the other nations of the world did. Daniel told more about coming Empires and what would take place in the last days than any other prophet. Daniel went in under the Babylonian Empire and lived until the Medes and the Persians. Israel was monotheistic, meaning they worshipped one God Jehovah, while the other nations of the world were polytheistic, worshiping many gods. Daniel was just a young man when he was taken captive along with many others in Babylon. As far as the knowledge of God was concerned, the light went out all over the world.
