It takes time to see fruit in a believer's lives. If we are married to the law and not Christ we will not have the fruit of the Spirit, which only the Holy Spirit can develop. When we love self, we cannot know agape love. We are to love God and our neighbor. Pursuit of holiness is the source of most laws created by men. Right living is why most Christians make laws for themselves because they seek holiness and freedom from sin in their lives. They are looking for the fruit of a righteous holy life, end up finding themselves in a snare of the devil. Deception of trying to acquire the victorious Christian life on our own is Satan’s greatest accomplishment in the church. Only death to self and faith in Christ’s finished work alone can result in the only transformation that God will recognize.
