Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 9:13; as it is written in the law of Moses all this evil has come upon us, yet made we not our prayer before the Lord our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand your truth. The truth here is the Word of God; that is, understanding what God was telling Judah, if you don’t repent, judgment is coming. Brother Swaggart says they didn’t believe that God would allow Jerusalem to fall. Their logic, Jerusalem-Judah was the only country in the world, not just in the Far East or the Middle East, but the whole world that believed in Jehovah. They couldn’t see God allowing the Ark of the Covenant, where He dwelt to be taken by infidels, heathen that did not know God. They couldn’t understand that, so they wouldn’t believe the prophet’s warnings. We see the blinding effect of sin; they didn’t recognize the difference between even the gods of the countries around them; Baal and Jehovah were mixed.
