Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel welcome Pastor Mike Mounce from At The Cross Family Worship Center in Cuba Missouri. They discuss a huge component that is missing in the many modern Pentecostal Churches; that is how the Holy Spirit works within the parameters of the finished work of Calvary. Many preach the baptism of the Holy Spirit, to get people filled with the Spirit, but then they are wrongly taught that this alone will clean up any issues of sin in a believer’s life. The Holy Spirit begins working in our lives before being baptized in the Holy Spirit; Brother Larson calls these, New Covenant benefits. The panel goes on to explain why the baptism of the Holy Spirit should not be taught as the initiator of the sanctification process, but how it is a second subsequent gift, given for service and allows the Lord to empower us to be a witness to reach the lost.
