Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss the Law of the Old Covenant and the better covenant we have in the New Covenant. Reading in Romans 3:20, the panel explains the key purpose of the law, to show all people our need for a Savior in Jesus Christ. The law gives us a written record of the unrighteousness of man, but everything about the law was to point toward Christ and Him Crucified. Man on his own is unable to keep the law; God designed this, it was not a mistake. God knew Israel, and all mankind would break His Covenant, but He made a way. He gave His only Son, to come to earth, and die in our place, to pay the debt we owe but could not pay. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus sets us free from the law of sin and death.
