DO YOU KNOW WHO JESUS IS?- Tonight at Crossfire, Pastor Paris Ragan preaches from Matthew 16:13-19; sharing how each gospel writer has something unique to say about the person of Jesus. In Matthew, the healing of Peter’s mother-in-law is recorded; Mark says that He raised her up by the hand. Matthew says that He touched her by the hand. Luke says that He took His stand over her, and rebuked the fever. That’s totally different than how Mark told it, and how Matthew told it. Does that make one story truer over the other? Pastor Paris says it does not. It is a different perspective of what was taking place. Luke is emphasizing Jesus’ power over darkness; He’s more powerful than the sickness. Mark specifically is showing that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God. John shows Jesus as something far higher and greater than the other Gospels have related. He’s God. How He interacted with His disciples is how He wants to interact with us today. He wants to require the same things of us; salvation is free, discipleship costs you everything.
