WE ARE SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS- Tonight at Crossfire, Pastor Paris Ragan preaches from Romans 6:15-23. He shares the Old Testament story of Hosea and Gomer, and how it depicts the love of God giving His Son on our behalf when we were undeserving. Though we are not in a Covenant with the Mosaic Law, we are still in a Covenant that demands righteousness, which demands holiness that demands a godly standard. Just like Hosea, we are not a free person, not independent, even though society teaches us that we should strive for independence. The gospel doesn’t teach independence, it teaches dependence. Some believers, wrongly think, when we are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit then it’s smooth sailing from here; but if we set out on our own to live for God and strive for holiness and righteousness in our own self-efforts, we will fail. Pastor Paris reminds us, we can’t grit our teeth and strive to please God; only His son pleases Him. He said, "this is my son, in whom, I am well pleased". [Matthew 3:17]
