The panel responds to an email question regarding the names of the Apostles, and early followers of Christ, in the bible. The emailer asks why the names are not of Middle Eastern or Arabic in origin? The answer is that Jesus’s disciples were not Middle Eastern. The origin of their names are Roman, based in Greek. Saul, was a Jewish name, but when changed to Paul, it’s origin is Greek/Roman. At that time, Israel was under the Roman Empire and used names and words we use today.
