False prophets and deception have been infiltrating the church since its inception. Today on Frances and Friends, Sister Swaggart and the panel read from Matthew 7:15-20, warning how false doctrine sometimes starts with a little bit of truth, as a set up for the lie to seduce the listener into following it. In bible typology, false doctrine is likened to Jezebel; it has a seducing spirit, and creates a desire for more. Brother Donnie says we should seek discernment to recognize false teachers, as to not be deceived by the person’s reputation or lure; then, when we are rooted in the Word of God, a lie will always fall.
