The very first bibles, in the early 1600’s, were printed in all black ink. Today on Frances and Friends, Pastor Donnie Swaggart and panel discuss how the printing of Christ’s words in red ink in Bibles has only come about over the last 130 years. Brother Donnie adds that this was a marketing tool to set publishers apart, and it was successful in selling more bibles because of it. It is about 50/50 today that publishers print Christ’s words in red. The panel is answering to an emailer who asks about the Expositor’s Study Bible having the study helps printed in red instead of the words of Jesus. In explaining the separation of church and state, Brother Donnie says our founding fathers were forced to be a part of a mandated state church before coming to America; thus they established the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence for the separation of church and state. This gives every citizen the choice to follow whatever church they wish, or not following church at all, and this is what the separation of church and state means.
