Today on The Generation of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC professor, Dr. Don Paul Gray along with Stephanie Beauregard, Chief Academic Officer, and Paris Ragan, Dean of Students, both are also professors at the college. The panel is addressing questions coming in from parents and future students about the college’s current accreditation process. Dr. Gray explains the importance of the process and what it can mean for JSBC students. It gives a stamp of approval from larger institutions. It shows that the college is quality and it holds the college accountable, with purpose and direction being made clear. Currently JSBC is an undergraduate, theological college with a liberal arts foundation; which is what most bible colleges are. By adding general education classes, like English, Math, History and the like, this will not change the truth that JSBC stands for. This will only affect the process, not the content; Dr. Gray says this will have nothing to do with the information within the textbooks and the syllabus. Brother Gabe also confirms this is a Christian accreditation, not secular. Brother Gabe says this will merely add to the Spiritual growth and maturity of a student for whichever ministerial field is entered. Brother Gabe says learning general education coursework, with a biblical foundation at it’s core, will greatly benefit the young men and women as they go out into the world to serve the Lord. For those who would assume evolution will be taught in science and psychology courses required for accreditation, Brother Gabe assures that will NOT be the case; biblical counseling, and marriage and family can be taught for psychology credits, and Creation will be taught in the science requirement.
