It means you’ve got to make a concerted effort. We are not commanded to create unity, it has already been created, and the unity is by His Spirit. We have to endeavor to keep the unity. We recognize it to keep it. Paul is saying that unity has already been provided by the Spirit and it must be maintained because it is very easy for that unity to become fractured when we walk opposite of lowliness, meekness, patience, forgiveness, and love. In pride, arrogance, and ego you sow discourse, which automatically results in disunity and disharmony.
