HERESY- Today on The Generation of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor David Watts reading in Ephesians 4:31, teaching how we must let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from us with all malice. Heresy is a very serious charge. There are 3 terms throughout church history and in theology that are formally used but are very different. There is heresy, apostasy and schism. Heresy is a formal denial or doubt of a core doctrine of the Christian faith. Apostasy is an abandonment of the Christian faith altogether, after it had been accepted. The country term for apostasy is backsliding; an apostate is someone who once was a Christian and has formally walked away. A schism is a formal and deliberate breach of Christian unity without being based on doctrine.
