THE CHRISTIAN AND ALCOHOL- Today on The Generation of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor David Watts as they continue their study on alcohol, addressing the wedding at Canaan, in John chapter two, where the Lord’s first miracle is to turn water into wine. This was not an alcoholic wine, as some would like to believe. Ephesians 5:18 says, be not drunk with wine, where in excess, but be ye filled with the Spirit. At this wedding celebration, which has lasted many days, the ruler of the feast tasted and referenced Jesus’ wine as a new wine, saved for the last, and being the best. Some 20-gallons, of the old wine, had already been served, so the governor of the feast would have likely been inebriated if it were alcoholic, and he wouldn’t have be able to discern the difference between the wine that had been formerly served, for alcohol impairs judgment. The bible makes it clear; the use of alcohol is opposed to the very character of Christ.
