HOW TO STUDY THE BIBLE- Today on the Generation of The Cross, Pastor Gabriel Swaggart is joined by JSBC Professor Dave Watts, and Evangelist David Borg as they discuss how to properly study the bible. Brother Borg shares his experience on a recent mission’s trip to Africa in the remote village of Katesh. Dr. Watts explains the different genres found in the bible. In the Old Testament, we have narrative, law, poetry, prophecy, and wisdom. Understanding those will help us to understand our interpretation and meaning of the text. In the New Testament, we have gospel, history, letters or epistles, and apocalyptic literature. We need to understand what it is that we’re reading, to understand the genre. Dr. Watts also delves into covenant communication, explaining how God inspired the writers of the Bible. It is a total and complete verbal plenary inspiration. The word of God is just that, His Word, and it is in no way a limited interpretation as some falsely teach.
