Today on Insight, John and Josh Rosenstern discuss U.S. Census numbers from the 2020 Census. Brother Josh explains how the census affects representation in the House of Representatives. Each state has so many districts laid out, based on population density, and thus are given so many seats to make up the 435 seats in the House of Representatives. Louisiana has six districts. All throughout the country, the states are redrawing their district lines. Brother Josh says elections can be won or lost by this redistricting. There are 44 lawsuits, in sixteen states, regarding disagreements over certain districts. Brother Josh recommends that people look into whether their state is involved in such a redistricting suit. This will greatly affect state and federal elections for the next ten years until the next census.
