Today on Insight, John and Josh Rosenstern discuss the current lame duck session of Congress, and its efforts to push through last minute legislation; one being, the Respect For Marriage Act, which would federally mandate states that do not recognize same sex marriages to accept those where a couple when out of state to be married. Last night, voting cleared the filibuster and many amendments were offered; Senator Mike Lee of Utah put forth an amendment with the most protection of religious freedom. Brother Josh says this will allow many lawsuits to come before the Supreme Court for a testing of the power of the bill. After today, the Senate votes on the proposed amendments and then it will go to the house for a vote, and then to the President’s desk for a signature.
