They were outside of the will of God, where things will never go right. Naomi was left with the wives of her two sons. One turned back to the god’s of her country, but Ruth stayed with Naomi and married Boaz, a type of Christ. An angel appeared to Naomi and said, there is bread now in Bethlehem, the famine is over. Brother Swaggart says we need to take the bread of life to a lost and dying world, and then sit still, and see the salvation of the Lord.
