CRISIS AT ZIKLAG— Today Dr. Don Paul Gray preaches from 1 Samuel 30:1-19, addressing the struggles and triumphs in the life of David. David, fleeing King Saul, fled to Gath, making relationship with King Achish, as he set up camp in Ziklag. In the march against King Saul, and the Philistines, the King sent David back to Ziklag to find the city in devastation and all the women and children gone. David is in the third of three great crisis in his life. He asked, how did I let this happen to my city, a Philistine city. David wept. They even thought of stoning David in their grief. David, under great stress, encouraged himself in the Lord. Brother Gray reminds us, when crisis comes, we must cry out to God as David did. David cried to God as he "walked through the valley of death”. God told him to pursue. There is no time for fear in our crises, we must have faith that God will see us through, no matter how difficult the circumstance. If God be for us, who can be against. David prepared for battle; 1 Peter 5:8 says, be sober, vigilant, as our adversary the devil goes about like a roaring lion seeking to destroy us. We need to know who our enemies are, or Satan will get an advantage over us. It takes perseverance to stay the course. In Ziklag, David won the battle; the wives and children were reunited with their families. Brother Gray encourages us, if we are faithful to God, like David, He will bless us over and above that which we could ever imagine.
