FEARS, FRICTION, FLIES, AND FAMINE- The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. Tonight at Family Worship Center Pastor David Watts reads from Psalm 23:1-6. Here, David is making a declaration of what God is. He is a good Shepherd who gives His life for His sheep. A shepherd’s work in ancient Israel was considered the lowliest of positions; Pastor Watts says, Christ stooped down to take this position for us. He guides and protects His flock. He is our personal shepherd who watches over us and preserves us. He makes us who we are; we are not self sufficient, all our needs are supplied by the Lord. The sheep doesn’t always know what he needs, but the Shepherd knows what His sheep needs. Sheep will not rest when they have fear, friction, flies, and famine; we are similar, but God knows how to give us rest by still waters. He restores our souls and guides us into righteousness. When we walk through valleys of darkness, He will be with us. His goodness and mercy will follow us; we have His steadfast love. We are guests at His table though we don’t deserve it. The blood of Jesus, gives us access to our Good Shepherd. Do you hear His voice calling?
