A PRISONER OF JESUS CHRIST- Today at Family Worship Center, Pastor Donnie Swaggart preaches from Philemon 1:1, looking at man’s inhumanity to man, i.e. slavery. The Apostle Paul writes this letter to Philemon from prison. Brother Donnie reminds us that at this time in history, two-thirds of the Roman Empire was slaves. Paul was chained to a guard 24 hours a day, seven days a week, but here God used him greatly, as he wrote the Prison Epistles. In his letter to Philemon, a slave master, he says he must forgive and restore his slave, Onesimus who stole from him. Brother Donnie says this is just as God has done for us at salvation. When we are saved, He restores us and puts our sin on His account. This is the Doctrine of Imputation; Christ takes our sin, and we receive His righteousness when we believe on His finished work at Calvary. In essence, we can either be a prisoner to our problems, or a prisoner of Jesus Christ. Which will you choose?
