MOURNING CHRISTIANS— How long will you mourn for Saul, fill your horn with oil and go. As believers, we should not get in front of or behind God. Today Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart reads from 1 Samuel 16:1, teaching how Israel got ahead of God, wanting Saul to be their King. In despondency, the prophet Samuel mourned for Israel, but God was planning; piecing together Israel’s greatest moment. David, a shepherd boy, was the youngest of all his brothers, and the least likely, based on outward appearances, to be the chosen one of God. But God knew David’s heart. God asks us today, how long will we mourn? Is our horn full of oil? The oil, symbolizing the Holy Spirit, was poured from the top of David’s head to the bottom of his feet. While he was the son of Jessie, God was orchestrating so much more. This was the lineage God had designed, before the foundations of the world, to make way for King Jesus, the Son of David.
