Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss how a believer is to find victory in their Christian walk. There is a practice or discipline of how to do this correctly, by the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit is not to be neglected by the believer, but knowing how the Holy Spirit leads and guides us, bearing forth fruit in our lives. This is not to be done by self-efforts or religious works as many believers are erroneously taught. It is only by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on Calvary’s Cross that we can have victory over sin in this life. The panel reads directly from the book ‘The Purpose Driven Life’, by Rick Warren, and it directly pushes good habits, like those taught in humanistic psychology, of developing character incorrectly by self efforts and patterns formed. This false doctrine will only but the believer under the dominion of the sin nature because it directly goes against the work of the Holy Spirit alone in a believer’s life. We must walk in the realm of the Spirit and not laws of man. Christ crucified is our source of victory, and we apply this to our lives by faith alone.
