The Apostle Paul was leading the entrance to Christianity and the benefits of Christ Crucified; he was breaking new ground, after the Jews had lived 1600 years under the law, and now learning to rely solely on the grace of God. These actions still exist in the church today, showing up as works and self-efforts to work out one’s sanctification. Brother Swaggart warns adding anything to the gospel will corrupt its effectiveness; for I through the law am dead to the law that I might live unto God. (Galatians 2:19)
