When we are redeemed, at salvation, we have the Spirit of God in us. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Galatians 3:14 explaining how the Spirit of the Lord works in the heart and life of a person the moment faith is placed in the finished work of Christ on Calvary’s Cross. The baptism of the Spirit, that comes as a second subsequent work, with speaking in tongues, makes affordable to the believer all the benefits that come with anchoring our faith in the Cross. Brother Larson explains salvation's primary work of freedom of sin, and the secondary work giving the power for service. We must not misappropriate the function of the Holy Spirit with regards to freedom from sin. We are washed, sanctified, and justified when we believe on Christ’s finished work; there, the Holy Spirit abides in us. We must not put the gifts of the Spirit in front of the Cross of Christ.
