There is only one God, manifested in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Today on the Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Galatians 4:8, discussing polytheism and how Israel was monotheistic, but disobeyed God. Israel looked unique to the unsaved world that worshiped a variety of gods. Brother Swaggart says the many gods were of demon spirits, and they were slaves to the systems of this world. After the death of Christ, the Apostle Paul feared the new converts were going to go back into the traditions of Judaism, moving away from God. Brother Larson points out, in the Old and New Testaments, and ongoing to this day, we see legalism will always drive the believer away from their justification.
