Be not drunk with wine, but be filled with the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is a comforter. Today on The Message of The Cross, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Ephesians 5:17-18 discussing the addiction of alcohol and the hold it can have on a life. When we anchor our faith in the finished work of Christ alone, we will receive the help of the Holy Spirit to walk this life victoriously over sin. When we have the Spirit living inside, it will affect everything in our lives. The panel goes on to discuss the question, why would we exchange the Spirit of God for a spirit of alcohol or being under the influence of any other drug. Anything associated with our old lives, scripture says, we are to having nothing to do with it. Christ died to set men free from every bondage. God has granted every believer a joyful life full of peace and rest and hope when we allow the Holy Spirit to do what only He can do. He is our deliverer.
