There were many gods worshiped during the supremacy of Babylon and the time of king Nebuchadnezzar, but there was only one, true God, that deserved loyalty. Today on A Study In the Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 3:8-15, and how Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego would not bow to the king’s gods. These three Jewish boys were already resented for their elevated positions by the king, and now this. Brother Larson says they were taking a stand for truth, despite the punishment they’d face. The king was known to sacrifice wise men, for such betrayal, as this was an insult to the king’s god. Nebuchadnezzar even offered the three another chance to bow to his god or be put in the fiery furnace; likely impressed by their faith, in verse fifteen, Nebuchadnezzar asks, "who is this God who shall deliver you out of my hands?” Our God delivers.
