When Jesus Christ went to the Cross, He took the penalty of sin, and He broke the power of sin. Today on A Study in The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 8:10, discussing how through the power and person of the Holy Spirit God brings life to our dead bodies. We are incapable of doing righteousness, for only the Holy Spirit brings us life. We must believe on His finished work for victory over sin, there is nothing we do, but only believe. This is how the sin nature stays dormant. Only the Holy Spirit can bring resurrection life to address the sin nature that still remains in a believer. Dr. Watts says unbelief, self-reliance and ignorance often keeps the believer from ever having true freedom that can only be found in Christ.
