To grow in the grace and the knowledge of the Lord, we must embrace the finished work of the Cross. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss how the message of the Cross will stir up a religious anger when it confronts one who has their faith in flesh, i.e., works. Brother Swaggart says this is the same ugliness that killed Christ. In the early church, the Apostle Paul had to strongly preach against the new converts trying to hang onto the law. He saw many Jews, including Peter, slipping back into Judaism. Just as Paul confronted Peter to the face, sin and self-righteousness have to be addressed in an unbeliever and in a believer’s life; preaching the Cross of Christ will do just that.
