Brother Swaggart says this verse clearly states a branch, which is the believer, can be cut off from the vine, which is Christ; however, the panel encourages, the Lord is long-suffering, and gives time for fruit to develop as faith is properly placed. Branches will wither and be burnt up, if a believer is no longer abiding. Brother Larson says Christians must abide in the right object of faith, the Cross of Christ, so this withering does not happen.
