Preachers are called to feed the sheep of God. Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel welcome special guest Pastor Mike Mounce from At The Cross Family Worship Center in Cuba Missouri. The panel discusses the importance of a preacher being lead by the Holy Spirit to the things of God. No amount of education can make a preacher. A relationship with God is what makes a preacher. If Bible education is the primary focus, and content of scripture is planted into a heart and a life, then it becomes a viable education for the church. It is estimated that 50-percent of the churches in America don’t have pastors that know anything about the gospel, and that is the danger of education, it’s a worldly education rooted often in psychology. The preacher’s job is to teach the Cross of Christ and the need for repentance of sin; unfortunately, the church growth model today is all about bringing in the masses and growing numbers. Brother Larson says talking about sin and the death of Jesus Christ is not the preaching most want to hear.
