God gave the law to show man what he is. The law could detect sin, but it could not defeat sin. Christ came to redeem us from our sin, and save us from the power of sin. In His flesh, He took the penalty for us. Salvation is the only way the fallen human nature can be addressed. When we say yes to the finished work of Christ on the Cross, fallen man enters into the divine nature of Christ, and the sin nature within us is made dormant.
