Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel discuss Daniel 8:4, as Daniel was shown by the Lord that which was going to take place in the not too distant future. I saw the ram pushing westward and Northward and Southward, so that no beast might stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and became great. The ram is used here by the Holy Spirit as symbolic of the Empire of the Medes and the Persians. I saw the ram pushing westward, refers to an event of the past, the taking of Babylon. Northward refers to Lydia, while Southward refers to Egypt; of course, the Medes and the Persians would take these countries. Brother Larson explains how beasts have oftentimes been used to portray countries and give recognition to powers of darkness.
