Daniel was ready to give up his life rather than disobey the Lord. Today on A Study in The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel study Daniel 1:8-18. Daniel had an excellent Spirit; Brother Larson says there’s a difference between boldness and rudeness, and Daniel handled himself as a captive that drew the attention of the prince of the Eunuch. The eating of meat and drinking of wine to the Babylonian gods, was something Daniel and the Hebrew children knew were ways of paganism that they could not partake in. The Lord, through Daniel, offered a ten day menu of water and vegetables; avoiding the king’s meat and proving to be stronger and healthier from such a diet. Brother Larson says this likely transpired over quite some time, and Daniel and the Hebrew children had to have earnestly sought the Lord with the Holy Spirit directing them. They were put to various tests, and keeping the character of God, He proved them to be wiser than all others in Babylon and the surrounding nations.
