Today on A Study In The Word, Evangelist Jimmy Swaggart and panel read Romans 7:15. The believer is married to Christ, and when we look for victory outside of the finished work of Christ we are committing spiritual adultery. This cohabitation with the law or any other rituals or self-works to maintain a relationship with God will result in an inability to walk a victorious Christian life. Brother Swaggart says there will be some area of failure over time. Man cannot overcome the power of sin on his own. It’s not what we do, but what Christ did. We must believe in His finished work alone. This is the only way the Holy Spirit will work on the believer’s behalf to bring our condition up to our position in Christ.
